Every cult needs a cathedral. Ours was built on screens, run by code, and fed by faith.
We didn’t just witness the rise of a leader. We watched the architecture of democracy reshaped by clicks, chants, and curated rage. The cult didn’t appear overnight. It was algorithmically summoned. One push notification at a time. One viral sermon at a time. One “Us vs. Them” story at a time.
Platforms became pulpits. Followers became fanatics.
And faith, once deeply personal, was reprogrammed into a loyalty test— with politics as theology and the leader as messiah. Even truth itself became conditional—if it fit the feed, it lived. If not, it vanished.
Amid this noise, there was once a different signal.
Barack Obama—charismatic, yes—a cult figure—and yet not a cult figure. He rose on the wings of hope, not hype. But the system wasn’t ready. And what followed wasn’t a backlash—it was a purge.
Of logic. Of sanity. Of complexity. Of shared reality.
What took its place was a spectacle of decline wrapped in flags and memes, shielded by scripture, optimized for outrage.
And now? We’re left with scorched institutions, polarized minds, and a public caught between doomscroll and denial.
So, ask yourself—was it all just entertainment—A performance we consumed, or a story we helped create? The question now is whether the system can ‘still’ be reclaimed and rewired
